Jeffrey Geslin

Jeffrey Geslin, ExxonMobilJeffrey Geslin is a senior stratigrapher at ExxonMobil where he has worked for the past 17 years. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1993. He has published more than 60 papers and abstracts on subjects including sequence stratigraphy, tectonics and sedimentation, provenance analysis, sandstone petrography, and numerical modeling of fluvial systems.

Jeff conducted research for the U.S. Geological Survey and held a post-doctoral position at Idaho State University from 1993 to 1998. He joined Exxon Production Research 1998 as a researcher in sequence stratigraphy and has since held positions in production, development, and exploration projects, as well as research.  He has worked on projects in fluvial, shallow marine and deep water strata in numerous locations globally.  Jeff is currently the technical team lead for the Clastic Stratigraphy team at the ExxonMobil Upstream Research Co.

Jeff has been active in the development and delivery of training in stratigraphy within ExxonMobil, and he has taught and coordinated numerous courses held throughout the world.  Jeff is also a member of both AAPG and SEPM, giving presentations in annual meetings and serving as a reviewer of manuscripts for publication.
